While his namesake, the former heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson, may not have been very thrilled, 2-year old Tyson didn't seem to mind in the least bit when he was crowned winner of this year's 'Beautiful Bulldog' pageant, held by Des Moines based Drake University.

Though toys and video games have undergone numerous exciting innovations, the same cannot be said about outdoor playgrounds. Sure there is the occasional fun slide or web, but they are all more or less homogeneous - a few swings, a sand box, a monkey bar or two etc. etc. Where is, the imagination and innovation? Now, two Scandinavian designers finally seem to have seen the light.

This Sunday, May 6th is World Laughter Day, a special day that can be celebrated by anyone, anywhere - All they have to do, is laugh aloud and rambunctiously, with no inhibitions. Celebrated annually on the first Sunday of May, the fun event was started by Indian physician Dr. Madan Kataria.

It seems like advertisers are getting increasingly innovative in their approach to getting the word out. First there is Denmark's Generous store that hands out gourmet chocolate in exchange for good deeds and now a 'Hug Me' vending machine that dispenses free coke cola in exchange for, you guessed it . . . . . . . A hug!

If you love riding your bike or scooter and drawing you are going to be thrilled with this new invention, that allows you to do both - Simultaneously! Aptly dubbed Chalktrail, it is the brainchild of Bellingham, WA resident Scott Baumann, whose 'aha' moment came about five years ago, when he was saw his kids and their friends constantly getting off their bikes to create chalk drawings.
